Chris Chaffee for U.S Congress Maryland 5 District

My name is Chris Chaffee. I am a Husband, Father, Grandfather, son of a Veteran, a Catholic a Republican and a conservative who believes in God, country, and accountability in government. One of my first jobs right out of high school was local 26 electrical union and then moved over to University of Maryland go TERPS. where I finished my electrical education and moved further on my education, I started a home business in 1991 building and renovated homes across the tri -county region. As a small business owner, builder, and farmer, I know the value of hard work and the importance of a strong, prosperous economy.

I’m running for Congressional District 5 Southern Maryland which includes Anne Arundel, Calvert, Charles, Prince Georges and St. Mary's Counties. This district has been controlled by a democrat since 1981 for a total of 45 years. This is a 1 in 45- year opportunity to secure a Southern Maryland Republican Congressional District.

This is our opportunity for all counties in District 5 to come together and elect me, Chris Chaffee as your Republican candidate. I will fight to bring resources home to support District 5. I am a strong conservative but will work with everyone in District 5. Maryland has lost some good economic opportunities. We lost Six flags, Washington Commanders to name a couple. Maryland has lost over 100,000.00 of our tax paying citizens because the cost of living is so high. The loss of the bridge in Baltimore has destroyed the lives of everyone who has to travel farther for work at higher cost. Two year have passed and this bridge is not under construction. There is no excuse for this failure to all Marylanders. We must also look into a new bridge crossing from Calvert to St Mary's the main pathway to Patuxent River Naval Base. This is a 2-year job you vote for me the first 2 years I will earn the next 2 years term limiting myself at 3 TERMS.

We are experiencing high prices never seen before for electricity, gas, oil, and food. These all need to be addressed. Home and rent costs have skyrocketed due to shortage of home builders funding and land. We need to minimize the permit process for both residential and commercial construction. These are all hot button topics for Maryland. The budget short falls and the shutdowns should never happen. If the funding isn't there then the legislators who are responsible to passing the budget should have their pay stopped. There needs to be an insensitive to force negotiations. No legislators should be paid if the budget isn't balanced this should be the law. WE ARE BETTER THAN THIS.

I will fight for policies that make Maryland safer and more affordable, to support economic growth. This includes Presidents Trumps economic plan, it is moving America in the right economic direction. I will put the interests of hardworking Americans first. Putting America first includes funding for DOD, keeping our military bases funded, and leading by strength.

Push for Term Limits. Congress and Senate have one job to protect the people. The Government shutdown is irresponsible and putting Americans safety at risk from flying, Border security, Coast Guard, TSA. We must FUND HOMELAND FULLY and end game playing.

Securing our border, increasing America energy production including our rare minerals, will help bring back manufacturing and help increase America's strength at home and abroad. Protect the Southern Maryland industries including, farmers big and small, Chesapeake Bay watermen and our way of life.

My wife and I were raised and educated in Prince Georges County. We have deep roots in District 5. We lived and worked in all five counties. We moved to Calvert and this is where our children went to public schools prior to attending Maryland Colleges. I worked for decades as a Builder and Home Improvement contractor and a farmer. I will work hard to represent District 5 and all its citizens.

America has built a military machine to lead by strength we each know someone that serves or works at one of our bases across America. I am not for boots on the ground. We need to end Iran having the means to enrich uranium. Send in inspectors find and remove all nuclear fuel if any and end Trumps war with Iran. This action was by design a means to end the threat in middle east of nuclear weapons. We need to return gas and oil control back to America and strengthen the dollar across the world. We need to bring down the fuel, food and housing prices. Americans today could use some help lowering fuel prices by the federal government and state government suspending the fuel tax for 30 days.
